Before arrival in Poland

Before coming to Poland:

1. Apply for a visa in advance (if you need a visa)

Applying for the wrong kind of visa can lead to major problems such as the inability of the Institute to provide you with the documents that the visa office asks for.

2. Search for accommodation before coming to Poland.

You may want to find a temporary place of stay so that upon arrival to Warsaw you will be able to ask for assistance (from the Welcome Centre) in looking for a place to stay long term.

3. Check how to get from the airport / railway station / bus station to the place of stay in Warsaw

Note: there is limited access to the government offices and shops on National Holidays. Government offices are also closed on weekends. Before arrival, check that the day you plan to arrive is not a National Holiday in Poland. You will not be able to deal with any official matters (e.g. obtaining a PESEL number), you would not be able to do obligatory medical check-up on a National Holiday.
