Internships for young scientists

Internships for young scientists

Ph.D. students and young researchers have the opportunity for short- (up to 6 weeks) and medium-term (up to 3 months) internships at Eu-XFEL research stations. They will be supported by training visits to the laboratories of the “XFEL CD Network”. This will enable participants to become more familiar with the research techniques used at EuXFEL through their own application on equipment offered by partners. The resulting competence in the use of XFEL sources in research will enable young scientists to implement XFEL techniques in their own research work and prepare their own research projects using XFEL.

Short-term internships are dedicated to PhD students, while medium-term internships are for young researchers (e.g., employed in post-doc positions). It is planned to finance internships for 6 PhD students and for 5 employees in the period 2023-2026.

Research topics offered at individual EuXFEL research stations will be announced on our website, which can be carried out as part of these internships with a team of specialists. You can also submit your own internship topic proposals to us. Those willing to go on specific internships will be asked to prepare the relevant applications, and the winners will be selected through a competition. Details on how to apply for an internship under this program are included in the competition announcement and in the regulations:
