Internships at EuXFEL

past event

Call for applications for a research internship at EuXFEL

As part of the project of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, we organize internships for doctoral students and young scientists at the research stations of the European XFEL. Their aim is for participants to become familiar with the research topics and experimental techniques used in EuXFEL, and then to apply them in their own research.

In the current competition, we offer internships to the following research stations: FXE, SPB/SFX/ HED, MID, SQS and SCS. A description of the research topics at each of the experimental stations can be found at: https://www.xfel.eu/facility/instruments/index_eng.html

Based on the survey, taking into account the great interest in internships and the diverse research topics of potential applicants, we are not providing detailed internship topics this year. These details will be determined only in the case of accepted applications. Please indicate your preferred research stations for internship in the “selected topics” section of your application. “Proposed internship period” should include information about your availability. Please complete and submit the required form. Applications will be reviewed by the international Project Advisory Board. This year we plan to fund 2-4 internships.

The first internships will take place between 22.04 and 30.06.2025. This can be a short-term internship (4 to 6 weeks), or a medium-term internship (1 to 3 months). The cost of participation in the internship (e.g., the cost of travel, accommodation, daily allowances) will be reimbursed from the funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education project up to PLN 20,000 gross in the case of short-term internships and up to PLN 37,000 gross in the case of medium-term internships.

If you are interested, please prepare appropriate applications which will be assessed by the international panel of experts. Application deadline: 31.03.2024.
