Organization of workshops

As part of the project, two editions of a several-day school, “XFEL for Beginners,” dedicated to novice XFEL users, will be co-organized with the Institute of Nuclear Physics. This will continue the schools organized by IFJ PAN, first in 2018 and then in 2020. The school will be conducted by experienced scientists working on X-ray lasers and aims to familiarize beginners with the basics of the operation and use of FEL sources. Laboratory exercises will also be conducted during the school. The main target group for the workshops will be students, PhD students, and young scientists.

The task also includes organizing multi-day workshops in Poland as an opportunity to present, in more detail than during conferences, the topics and research techniques used in XFEL sources, both during lectures, practical exercises using the laboratories of the XFEL CD Network, and individual meetings during the workshops. Invited lecturers will be experts in research using XFEL. The acquired knowledge will help in choosing the right research tools, and the meetings will be an opportunity to establish cooperation with experienced XFEL users, which can facilitate the preparation of their research projects.
