Research

The phenomenon of de Broglie waves has evolved from textbook experiments based on quantum mechanics to a new type of optics based on matter waves. Today, this field deals not only with the study of the particle-wave duality of photons but also covers the broadly understood nonlinear optics. Studying matter waves of atoms and photons and generating matter waves with nontrivial properties may lead to fascinating discoveries in this field over the next years.

The Quantum Optics and Matter Waves group conducts research in this field concentrating on ultra-cold atomic systems, ions and molecules, as well as on polariton-excitons and related platforms. These systems are considered in the study of the foundations of quantum physics and in the context of potential applications in quantum information, simulators and metrology.

The scientists forming the group have been developing proprietary solutions in these fields for years, which have been appreciated in the community of ultracold atomic physics, quantum and polariton optics. We cooperate on many levels with leading experts, both from Poland and abroad.
