We are happy to announce that our colleague Łukasz Cywiński, by the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland of July 23, 2025, has received the academic title of Professor of Natural Sciences in Physics.
Our newly appointed full professor has been employed at the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 2009. From 2018 to 2022, he was the Head of the Division of Theoretical Physics, and since 2024, he has been serving as the Deputy Head.
Professor Łukasz Cywiński graduated in 2002 from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw. He obtained his doctorate in physical sciences in 2007 at the University of California San Diego, and his habilitation in the field of exact and natural sciences in 2016 at the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he has been Head of the Group of Applications of the Fundamentals of Quantum Theory since 2024.
His research interests primarily focus on the theory of decoherence of spin qubits within nanostructures, the use of qubits as spectrometers of environmental noise at the nanoscale, physics of quantum dots, and quantum-classical transition theory.
We sincerely congratulate our colleague and wish him further fruitful work!
