Profesor Leszek Sirko appointed as a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences

During a ceremony on 23 October 2025, the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Marek Konarzewski, presented appointments to the newly elected members of the Polish Academy of Sciences, including Professor Leszek Sirko, Director of the Institute, who thus joined the ranks of the most outstanding researchers whose scientific achievements and authority have been particularly recognised by the Academy.
Our close colleague and collaborator, professor Marek Kuś from CFT PAS, a member of our Institute's Scientific Council, also became a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. We warmly congratulate the newly elected members of the Academy and wish them further scientific achievements!
W związku z wyborem profesora Sirko liczba członków PAN pracujących w Instytucie Fizyki wzrosła do czterech i obejmuje obecnie profesorów Tomasza Dietla, Leszka Sirko, Andrzeja Sobolewskiego i Henryka Szymczaka.

Christmas Eve gathering 19 December 2025

Nobel Prize in Physics 2025
The Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret and John M. Martinis. "for the discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electric circuit". Synopsis by M. Zgirski and M. Foltyn.
