New professor nomination at the Institute for Henryk Teisseyre

We are glad to inform that by a decision of the President of Poland dated 11 December 2023, Henryk Teisseyre, a professor at our institute, was conferred the title of Professor of Natural Sciences in Physics.

Professor Henryk Teisseyre graduated from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw. His master's thesis, which dealt with the optically induced return of the EL2 defect in GaAs from the metastable state to the ground state, was performed under the supervision of Prof. Jacek Baranowski. Subsequently, he joined the NL2 Laboratory of the High Pressure Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences. At that time, the Institute was the only center in the world where volumetric GaN crystals were obtained. A number of fundamental papers on the basic properties of gallium nitride were written on such samples. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on optical spectroscopy of dopants and defects in gallium nitride under high pressure under the supervision of Prof. Tadeusz Suski and defended it in 2001. In 2008, he joined the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He worked on Bose-Einstein condensates of polaritons, also in collaboration with a Swiss research group. He is currently working on Bose-Einstein condensates of indirect excitons in collaboration with research groups in France, for which he received a grant from Université Côte d'Azur. He is also working on the growth of oxides by MBE - among other things, he is a co-author of a paper on trions with the highest binding energy of semiconductors.
