I will explore the physics of interacting collective Rydberg excitations, also know as Rydberg superatoms. Compared with ordered arrays, the ensembles easily allow for usage of many more atoms, giving us much stronger coupling to light via superradiance, without the use of any cavities. However, interactions between atoms which are localized at random positions are harder to both simulate and manage in the experiment. I will propose and show how those interactions can be leveraged for quantum metrology, diving into the models of collective decoherence of superatom states.
