The "Jaszowiec Conference" has been a cornerstone of Polish semiconductor research for the past 53 years. Since its inception, this meeting has not only reflected the scientific directions pursued by the Polish semiconductor community but, perhaps more importantly, has kept us in close contact with the world’s leading research. It has fostered international collaborations, inspired joint projects, and helped us maintain friendly links with colleagues across the globe.

Although Jaszowiec is one of the oldest scientific conferences in Poland in terms of tradition and history, it remains forever young thanks to the continuous participation of new generations of students and the enduring youthful spirit that defines this event.

The Conference is preceded by a two-day tutorial session (School), addressed mainly to graduate students and young scientists. The number of participants in the School and the Conference has been growing over the years and has recently reached approximately 250, representing more than a dozen countries — making Jaszowiec the largest conference on semiconductor physics held in Central Europe.

The name of the Conference, Jaszowiec, originates from the town and valley in the Silesian Beskids Mountains, where the event first began many years ago. The scientific program is developed by the Jaszowiec Committee, which brings together distinguished scientists from leading research centers across Poland. The Committee is supported by an International Advisory Committee composed of 11 experts from prominent institutions in Europe, North America, and Japan.

The scope of the Jaszowiec Conference covers the most up-to-date and relevant topics in semiconductor physics, broadly understood. It includes nearly all areas of research—technology, experiment, theory, and modeling. The program is organized into five topical sessions:

  1. Quantum and Low-Dimensional Systems
  2. Light–Matter Interaction
  3. Magnetism and Spin Phenomena
  4. Devices and Applications
  5. Growth and Characterization

The Conference program features morning plenary sessions, where outstanding speakers present cutting-edge research in the most important areas, and evening sessions, traditionally devoted to the work of younger researchers. These evening sessions provide a valuable forum for early-career scientists to discuss their results with leading experts and exchange ideas with colleagues of all ages.

While Jaszowiec is a very intensive event, we always make sure to leave some time to enjoy the beautiful mountain surroundings, go hiking, and - of course - network informally.

This year’s edition will also feature four industrial lectures and an industrial exhibition. Responding to the needs of our students, we plan to organize job fairs, inviting companies and institutions seeking talented young people with strong backgrounds in semiconductor physics and technology.

Our conference is traditionally organized as a full-board event, with all participants accommodated in the same hotel—an arrangement that promotes efficient networking and ensures that we are always just steps away from the lecture hall.

In 2026, the School (June 13-14) and the Conference (June 15-19) are to be held in person. The daily time schedule, with the afternoons free of lectures, provides many opportunities for less formal discussions and building future co-operations.

Co-organizing institutions:
