Project Council

Substantive supervision of the activities carried out within the CD XFEL network is carried out by the Project Council, which brings together scientific managers from each network and experts in research using XFEL from both Poland and abroad. The Project Council consists of:

• dr hab. Ryszard Sobierajski, prof. IF PAN – chairman, substantive project manager
• dr hab. Katarzyna Jarzembska, prof. UW – head of CD XFEL UW
• dr Wojciech Gawełda – head of CD XFEL UAM
• prof. dr hab. Wojciech Wiślicki – head of CD XFEL NCBJ
• prof. dr hab. Maciej Kozak – Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan
• dr hab. Jakub Szlachetko – National Center for Synchrotron Radiation SOLARIS of the Jagiellonian University
• prof. Robert Feidenhans’l – European XFEL GmbH.

The tasks of the project council

• reviews in terms of merit the applications of research groups and individual scientists to obtain financial support under the project (e.g., for travel to conferences, internships, performance of preliminary research) and makes decisions on the award of funding;
• Reviews and approves the list of conferences where XFEL sessions are held;
• is an advisory board to CD XFEL managers on project implementation;
• Reviews and approves regulations for the provision of support and rules of operation of CD XFEL;
• can initiate the creation of new and transformation of existing CD XFELs.
• Decisions are made by majority vote of the Council in meetings held in-person or remotely no less than 4 times a year.
