Habilitation lecture

During the presentation, I will present research aimed at determining the structure of molecules of compounds with significant practical importance, such as metal ion complexes with bioactive organic ligands, namely citric acid, derivatives of phenoxyacetic acid (popular herbicides), and thiourea derivatives, regardless of the degree of structural order of the investigated compounds. Conducting this type of research was possible thanks to the application of X-ray structural analysis and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (EXAFS and XANES), as well as ATR-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, correlated with DFT calculations. Additionally, during the presentation, I will discuss gel synthesis used to obtain high-quality single crystals and direct synthesis of complexes with thiourea derivatives that could find application in pharmacology.
