The Open Day of the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is an event that takes place every few years on the occasion of important events for the Institute. During the Open Day, scientists open their laboratories to everyone interested, and there are also lectures popularizing the work carried out at the Institute and workshops for the youngest. The Open Day took place, among others, on October 19, 2013, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The next Open Days took place on May 13, 2017, and May 26, 2019. The latter Open Day was a special day because the demonstrations, workshops, and laboratory tours organized by the employees of the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences were accompanied by invited stands of guests from Young Explorers Clubs from Warsaw and the surrounding area. It was a joint event of the Open Day of the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Picnic of the Young Explorers Clubs.
In 2023, it will be the 70th anniversary of the Institute's establishment, and on October 21 of this year, another Open Day will take place.

The Science Festival in Warsaw was established in 1996 on the initiative of scientific communities by the Rector of the University of Warsaw, the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology, and the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The first edition of the Festival took place in 1997. Since 1998, the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences has been organizing open lectures and workshops as part of the Science Festival.

The Science Picnic was created thanks to the initiative and ideas of Professor Łukasz Turski from the Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Professor Tadeusz Skośkiewicz from the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and employees of Polish Radio: Krystyna Kępska-Michalska and Robert Firmhofer (since 2006, the director of the Copernicus Science Center).
The first Science Picnic (as the Science Picnic of Polish Radio BIS) took place on June 14, 1997, at the Market Square of Nowe Miasto. At this Picnic, the booth with liquid nitrogen from the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where Professor Skośkiewicz was helped by students from the School of Exact Sciences, stood out. Roses in liquid nitrogen became a symbol of several subsequent Science Picnics. More information about the current picnic can be found in the link.
