My name is Maksim Kouza. I am a PhD student in the Institute of Physics Polish Academy of Sciences (IFPAS) in Warsaw. Nowadays I work on the protein folding problems under the supervision of the associate professor Mai Suan Li. In my research to date I have primarily concentrated on the problems directly related to human deseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's diseases and some types of cancer. Despite the fact that the structures of the misfolded proteins which cause deseases are known, the mechanism of their formation remains unclear. Identifying the interactions taht favour the oligomer formation will lead to the complete molecular picture of that undesirable process. The full undestanding of the problem should enable options for new efficient drug design and therapeutic strategies.
